First Starbucks visit
So I visited Starbucks for the first time Saturday. I don’t like coffee so I made some mental notes of things I would like, but ended up with a tall chocolate frappuchino, no whip, and it was amazing! I don’t know if I like tea but I plan on trying a green tea frappuchino.
I know I don’t post much but I felt this was important. A lot of people will talk to their friends about “experiences.” However, in reality it is gossip. Gossip can be described as talking about someone (real or not) to someone who is not part of the problem or the solution.
Also to some of my “friends” I’m getting sick of you constantly berating me. Everyone has issues, you have them, and trust so do I, but don’t constant point them out.
Pack your bags
Is there such a thing as a person who grows up in Greenville, and actually WANTS to stay there when they are older?
We have tendancies to always search for something better.
So what’s gonna happen when everyone leaves and realizes that this small town was not such a bad place afterall….
I’m willing to learn the hard way.
I went on a late night run with an old friend tonight, and we ended up lying on a dirtmound and exploring the sky. our conversation went like this.
myself: “Look, there’s Oriion’s belt. and that’s his dagger. and that one right there? that’s me.”
drew: “That’s you, up there?”
me: “Yep. ‘In…
For musicians, check it out and think about attending.
For others, check it out and tell your musician friends.
Stuff
I haven’t been on tumblr in forever, and I don’t really know why. I guess I’m too busy?
I’ve already really enjoyed 2011 so far and we aren’t even two weeks in. I feel like something major is going to happen this year, and I just don’t know what.
In other news, I still can’t get over Hello Hurricane and how great it is. It has deep lyrics, great musicality, and also great production. It seems like you’d have to be a loser not to like it.
Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is coming up, and obviously we have no school for now.
I am hoping to get a keyboard and a guitar this season, but not as presents. The keyboard I’ll be getting through selling other stuff (digital piano, old trumpet, etc.) and the guitar with promising my parents any money I get until I pay it off.
I say this, because I believe that for Christmas, we should donate some of our money (let’s be honest here, that’s what most of us are getting) we receive to people that need it more. To be specific, at my church we are donating money to build wells in Africa. I am trying not to be too greedy this year, so even though I may get a keyboard and a guitar, I am going to give back rather than receive.
I hope you do the same.

Worrying
I have been somewhat worried recently with school. Between having to ask to turn in newspaper stories late, thinking I turned something in that my teacher apparently actually didn’t get, Jazz concert stuff, and all other crap that goes on in school, I haven’t been noticing all the fun I used to have learning new stuff, and hanging with friends.
I feel like God has been telling me to chill out. Not to a point of not noticing anything, but to just not worry about stuff that’s out of my control. One zero on a minor assignment won’t matter to my grade much, and my parents will understand, so what’s there to worry about?
“What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31
Relaxing Music
This isn’t to talk about “relaxing music” exactly. It’s more to talk about music that helps ME relax.
A lot of people, if you said relaxing music might say Jazz (which I do sometimes listen to to relax) or Classical music.
I disagree completely.
I have fallen asleep listening to everything from Frank Sinatra, and Herbie Hancock, to Skillet, Anberlin, tobyMac, dc Talk, Switchfoot, Relient K, and once, yes, I did fall asleep to Mozart.
I think that music that is “relaxing” is music that makes you fall asleep. If you like Devil Wears Prada, August Burns Red, and other bands like that, that may be the way you relax.
I hate it when people will put on music to help us relax in school, at home, or anywhere else, because people don’t understand the music that relaxes you is music that you like.
My musical preferences
I figure since this is a blog mostly about music, I should point out what I like in music.
I hate really twangy country. You know, stuff like “She thinks my tractor’s sexy” and anything involving a washboard.
I hate screamo. No I’m okay with a scream here or there, but if the entire song is screamo, I hate it. Any really heavy metal is included with this.
I hate rap. Not the music in and of itself, but the lyrics of most rappers nowadays.
I do not like classical music, unless it is something in the background while I’m doing something else. It is just too tedious to listen to as a main form of entertainment.
That being said, most music I listen to is Christian, or has no lyrics, with few exceptions.
One last thing, is any artist whose album is 9/10 about love, or a breakup, or anything similar to that, because if all you can write about is love, you obviously aren’t very creative. Sorry if that offends you, but if so… GET OVER IT!
